UK Pricing for X5 Skid Plate Paint/Fitting
 

I recently bought an X5 Skid Plate from a US dealer as they are not a UK available part, pricing as follows;

Skid Plate @ $199
Shipping @ $70
Tax/Duties @ $54 / £27

TOTAL: $323 / £165 approx

Now the interesting bit, I went to my local BMW approved dealer and they quoted me £346.63 inc vat for spraying and fitting :confused:

They tried to justify the cost by claiming the bumper needed to be removed in order for them to fit the skid plate, strange as the instructions that come with it didn't state that. Basically it has 7 screw fittings, 4 of which are at the rear of the plate and use fitments that are already in place on the bumper. The 3 front screws need drilling but once the rears are in place it looks pretty straight forward.

Anyway with that I went to a recommended body shop and they are spraying and fitting it on Saturday for £80, bargain :thumbup:

My X5 is Carbon Black and the skid plate is being sprayed Titan to match my grills.

Had the Skid plate fitted over the weekend. Apologies for the quality of the pics, they were taken on my phone camera.

The skid plate has been painted Titan II, the same colour as my Titan Grills

that looks fantastic , quite fancied this mod but im sure some1 said it wont fit the 4.8is front bumper

It won't, it only fits standard bumpers

Pity as itwould have matched the grills and bonnet vents like yourself and a nice contrast against imola red
