Starting Problem - "CODE_ _ _ _"
 

My 2002 X5 4.4 sat for several months without being driven. The battery (original) went dead and I was unable to either jump or charge it. I replaced the battery but when I went to start it, it wouldn't turn over or fire. I get a message in the center of the instrument cluster saying "CODE_ _ _ _".

Has anyone encountered this problem? I have tried all 3 keys and this makes no difference. What does the "CODE" message mean? Where do I get the code? The dealer has not been helpful - said the code message referred to the radio - but it plays fine! All other accessories seem to operate too - the starter just won't crank!

It means that you have to enter the code to start the car, this is extra feture if you par on onknown location or something.
Cal the dealer and tel him abot this they wil help you
