never going to a carwash again
As if enough shit on my x5 hasn't broken already - I took the X to a new local carwash that opened up today and wouldnt you know when i open the door to get out at my place i look down and the weatherstrippping on the bottom of the driver door is hanging there. Two of the little plastic clips that hold it on broke.
I think they were maybe a little rough with my X, or maybe it's just the fact that Germans can't engineer clips properly. |
mine broke too. I used tape to fix it. Ghetto style

I ordered new clips from the dealer, he just asked what color they were.. either brown or orange, I ordered like 10 and after next day shipping it was less than $20.. it was really easy to fix, just slid it up the strip and they kinda went right back to the original location of the clips! I have broken a few of them from time to time, so now i keep a few on hand!

Our '01 X has never been through a car wash and I still
manage to knock loose the rear door(s) weather stripping clip(s) when hand toweling...I thought it was just an earlier MY glitch. |
nahhhhhh. that clip(s) is cheap plastic any way, my broke too i just used a little sillicone to clue its back.( sillicone with maskin tape and remove the tape 20 min. after it dry)

The strips on both of my rear doors came loose. |
This is a common problem with e53's. don't be discouraged with the local carwash because its not there fault the plastic clips are so cheap. I replaced them with the oem brown clips
|
Yea... no biggie. Just feels like adding salt to the wound. Anyone got the part number for the brown clips?
