Noise when steering wheel is adjusted UP or DOWN ???
 

The steering wheel in my '01 X5 makes a loud crackling noise when it moves vertically up or down. It happens everytime i turn the ignition on or off as the steering wheel is adjusting vertically to the preset position in memory. I've been told that it's the vertical motor, anybody had this problem? what's the fix?? help please.

is there any cracks in the leather

I took a quick look at it, the leather is loose. I am going to take the cover and look thouroughly. Thanks for the reply.
