Oklahoma Recommendations

Hey guys, I read the replies to Kingcon's thread, a lot of great info. I have a question, I just moved to Oklahoma City from Atlanta. The BMW dealership in Atlanta had been great, and I loved them (Global Imports), however I think 1,000 miles to get my oil changed is a little more than I have time for, besides, I'd probably end up seeing my ex-wife, and that's just all bad.

So, my question, who in OKC is good for doing oil changes? I have heard bad things about the only BMW dealer here (Jackie Cooper), and I didn't think the John Deere place is where I should get my X5 serviced.

any input would be appreciated.

Don't know about OKC, but if you want to run over to Tulsa the dealer here (owned by the Howard Group - think OKC based) is A+. Just built a new facility and I have been extremely pleased. There is one Indy that I have investigated, but since mine is still under warranty and is a CPO will be frequenting the dealer (it doesn't hurt that he is only 4 miles away!!).

Besides, if you have heard bad things about Cooper, how hard can it be to screw up an oil change? Another possiblity is to befriend a good oil change place and then just go buy the filter and let them do it ...

I have only had warranty repair and maintenance done at Cooper in OKC on my 2004 4.4i sport. I do have some complaints, but think they can manage an oil change.

On the other hand, my warranty runs out in June so I am shopping for an extended warranty. There was a Yahoo group or something like that for OKC BMW owners and I once asked about a BMW friendly shop and most told me to stick with Cooper. But those in the group lacked the expertise one finds in this forum.

The oil change service on the X5 is not every 1000 miles, it's more than 6-10k

I think he meant it is 1000 miles for him to drive back to Atlanta to get it changed :)

I live in norman, ok, and so far I have not had a bad exprience with cooper bmw. (just sold a 4.4 and bought a 05 4.8) I would recommend that you talk to kim (and no one else) in service and tell her samir referred you to her and she will takecare for you. There is another person that works strictly on bmw but its in norman (bavarian autohaus, david 405-364-7260)

Thank you all for your input.

Yes, the 1000 miles was to get back to Atlanta.

Samir, I will ask for her if I get there, I'll make sure you get the brownie points.

FS_wheel, I do end up in Tulsa a lot, i may check them out too.

thanks again all

Bring it by the house and I'll help you change it. Just pay for the parts (I have them on hand....roughly $48.00 for the BMW oil and $6 for the filter for a 3.0 litre engine).

PM if you're interested.

Dan
