Tips to Increase MPG

On my Spyder I am replacing my air intake with a cold-air intake to improve gas mileage. Will replacing the air intake system in my x5 increase my mpg?

What other things can I do to increase my mpg?

Keep your foot out of the throtle and try not to go over 2,500 RPM!! It sucks to drive like a grandma but you can improve your mpg by about 2 or 3.

I have been trying it the last few weeks. I used to be the guy first out of the light and late braking at the next red light but now I am the guy the others pass and than I roll up next to em at the next stop!!!

Thanks, was looking for things to replace that might help increase my MPG though.

If there were such things, It would have been already installed in your car by BMW. Do a search...we have already been through quite a few threads on this topic.

Short answer is no and no.
The subject has been discussed
over and over again and the answer
is still the same.........

the air intake on the X5 is already a "cold air" intake. it takes the air from the outside rather than the engine compartment like old cars did.

So simple: don't drive fast, don't accelerate quickly and check your tires. CAI's and that crap will not add MPG's to a 4000+lb SUV.

Consider weight loss and amputate that lead foot.

Try these as well:

Remove the rear and passenger seat.

Toss out the spare.

Eat one less sandwich at lunchtime

Drive under 55mph.

Keep your tires to 32psi cold. all around.

Go with lighter 17 or 18"s wheels.

Drive with the windows closed.

remove the sub in the trunk.

Drive naked (not recommended in some states, especially if youre ugly).

Get a wheel alignment.

Never offer to drive anyone.

Use premium fuel.

Drive with both hands on the wheel (rather than ghetto style one hand on top)

Sit upright instead of in a lawn chair position

Keep your radio and other unnecessary electronics off while driving.

Thats all i can think of for now... enjoy.
