where do you get the alignment done?

pepboys quoted me $69.99 but they said they can't do it after put the car on the lift. computer tells tech to put ballast on the car (150lbs each front, 150lbs rear, and 46lbs trunk)

lowest quote from dealships is $140. ($200 from another 2 local dealerships)

is the load (specified weight for the ballast) a must? what if I get the alignment done without the ballast? if it's just some small difference, I'm not going to be picky at it.

I have no problem paying $140 to dealership to get alignment done but I doubt if they will still do the alignment without the specified weight.

will dealer perform a steering angle sensor and abs/dsc control unit reset after the alignment is done? (since the angle might be adjusted during alignment.)

I don't know if they still do it but Firestone has a deal where you get lifetime alignments for $140. One alignment @ Firestone costs 70 so I took it. But like I said, i'm not sure if it's still around.

I moved to east coast last year and $140 is the quote here. I remember I saw a post saying someone in PA got the alignment in dealership done for $80. unbelievable :yikes:

do you know if they reset steering angle sensor or re-calibrate dsc after the alignment is done? (I suppose it's required because of the new toe and camber setting??)

x2 on Firestone lifetime. Houston roads gaurantee you need an alignment at least once per quarter, so that is what I do.

i tried to get my alignment done here in czech republic.
they couldnt do it. said i needed to do £2000 of repairs first, said some "link" is faulty, causing the camber of the rear tyres to be at an angle.
they said its not dangerous or anything, just wears your tyres out quicker. :(
