how to replace fuel filter for 2001 X5
 
I'm thinking of replace the fuel filter on my 2001 X5 by my self, can someone guide me how to do the job.

1. under the driver seat, there is a cover, unscrew all the bolts, about 20 plus i think
2. Remove fuel fuse and start engine, make sure it dies (means out of fuel flow)
3. Replace filter.
4. You will need a new clamp for the 2 hoses attached to the filter, the ones you have are not reusable.

Bimmer360,
I am about to replace my fuel filter on 01' 3.0 X5. According to this picture of Darek, which clamps that need to be replaced do you refer to on step 4? I look in the Bently manual and they did not mention anything about replacing clamps. Thanks much for your help.

I've bought a new fuel filter as well.. where can i buy the clamps?

hmm.. on our 01 x5 3.0i, there are some rivets instead of all bolts ... am i looking at the wrong panel? didnt see any with 20 bolts ...

which part are we suppsoed to remove out of these?

I had to remove number one and six in the diagram to access the fuel filter.
