Worth it?
 

Hi , I was wondering if you guys or girls think it is worth it to go from 19" style 132 to 20" style 168? Or also maybe even go aftermarket. 22" maybe?

Depends on what ride quality you like. Bigger the wheel the stiffer the ride gets. I suggest 20" or 21" at max. 19 is not worth if you want summer performance and spending money. And you will need a separate set for winters.;)

that's what i did on mine. Guess what? i love it! But it depends if you want to sacrifice the comfort a little bit since you are going bigger, ride will be a bit rough. It's not too bad though but look wise, makes a big difference!

I know i'm going to have to sacrifice ride but i'm okay with that. I dont think it will be too bad with 20's. Also I''m about to buy style 168's, but I dont know if i want to go aftermarket or to stick to oem. Tough chioce.

Also i was wondering if you guys think the style 168 will look good on a toledo blue 4.4i 2005 with sport package and running boards? I am not going to be purchasing any fender flares or the 4.8 kit.

IMO 22"s are too big on an E53.

I actually really like the type 132's, so i'd have to say no it's not worth the cost just to upgrade ~but~ if you keep them as a dedicated winter set then it's a good idea.

Keep in mind however that with type 168's(and 87's!) are limited to available tires. AFAIK there are really only three sets that fit (Toyo Proxies, Yoko Advans, and Michelin Diamaris/Latitudes) and they can be pretty pricey.

Yea 22' is pretty big and im pretty sure i won't get that big of a size. But the only reason I am getting the style 168 is becuase they will be my summer set and also I am getting a Really good price for them. If the deal doesn't work out then I will most likley just keep the 132's.

Any other suggestions?

I have a similar situation and here is my reasoning: I have a set of CHROME 19" 132's and the only reason I'm upgrading is because I hate the chrome. I love the look of the original non-chrome 132's. And if I upgrade, might as well go for a set of 87's or 168's. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother. The 132's have a nice "chunky" look.

I upgraded to 20" staggered 87's from 17" style 64's... I absolutely love the 87's... I cant say that i even notice a rougher ride... I still use my 64's for my winter set up with snow tires, and I honestly cant tell that much of a difference in ride quality when I swap them out... and they have sh.tty roads here in Kentucky! The only difference with the 87's is that i swerve to miss pot holes to keep from damaging my wheels. My only complaint is that I cant rotate my tires in the traditional fashion... but this spring I had the tire shop flip flop my tires from side to side to try and extend the life of the back tires due to the choppy-ness on the inside of the tire, from the camber in the rear.... and that is working just fine! just my 2cts
