X5 totaled
X5 just got totaled. Driving north on GA 400 and a guy in a Dodge Ram pulls across the highway in front of me. I had very little time to slow down or react. I hit him as a guess between 35 and 40 miles per hour on his rear passenger wheel. It hit him so hard that it spun the truck around and flipped it on its side. My son and I are fine...I have a few airbag burns but other than that...ok...The X5 is a goner. I will miss her... If it were anything else I would have not been so lucky. The X5 held up very well... There will be another X5 in the near future...This car saved me and my son from serious injury...PICS of the car to come soon!!!

I am so sorry to hear this, but thankful you two are ok. Thank God the X held up and did its job when you needed it the most!
Geez...sorry to hear. Glad you're ok.
Sorry to hear about your accident :( At least you and your son are okay. They'll make you another X5 and you've got a good reason to get one
Damn! Sorry to hear this. The important thing is that you and your son are well.
glad to hear you guys are ok. sorry to hear about the loss.
Sorry to hear that, glad to hear you and the son are ok. Will be right here waiting for you when you come back with your new X
yeah all that matters is that you and your son are okay. everything else can be replaced. good luck with the new x5!
I wish it hadn`t happened but let`s :band: :beerchug: that you and your son are ok :woot: ...........now the X5 :driver: can always be remplaced.
Sorry to hear about your X5. Glad you and your son are OK. BMW magazine publishes accident story like yours where the BMW sacrificed its life to save the occupants.
Phew! Glad you and your son are okay. That's the main thing. But with respect to your X5, it sucks that it happened after you did all those mods.
Thank goodness you and your son are fine
That is why you spent the money........
Now you have to take off all those parts. Do you think that it is a total loss? |
Thank god you were driving the X, looks like it was worth every penny to protect your most precious and irreplaceable possesions. The X can always be replaced. Keep well.
glad you guys are ok.. I wasn't convinced to buy the X5 until I saw a picture of it in an accident where it knocked a minivan into the trees with not alot of damage to the X...that sold me as I drive on one of the most dangerous roads in the SF bay area.
Phil - the important thing is that you and your passengers were able to walk away. Mission accomplished
Let the dust settle and then climb back in the replacement X5 :D |
I am so happy that both you and your son are fine. It really is too bad for the X5, but hey, it was a great car and did its job of protecting you and your family. I am sure there will be another great X5 in your near future.
my god that is awful - just goes to show you never know when it will happen to you. I'm glad you and your son are OK, it could have been much worse. I'll bet you are both still quite shook up over the ordeal, hang in there. And if there is a bright side, you're getting a new X and can do your MODS all over again!
Take care and rest. |
Sorry to here about the X5 but it sacraficed itself to save your lives and thats all that matters. It did its job.
Sorry about your loss, especially after all those mods. Glad to hear that you and your son are ok. Please take care and let's see some pics of that new X when it happens.
Bad news, but good to read you and your son are ok!
The X is The car to be in, when an accident happens, imo. Hope the idiot got a ticket, some sore ribs and his ins. doubles. GL and good hunting for the replacement. BR,md |
Sorry to hear about ur X, but i'm sure the new one will be better, the important thing is you and your son will be here to enjoy it, good luck.
I got hit by a drunk driver 4 years ago, so I can relate. Thank God (and BMW) for your safety.
Be prepared for some soreness over next few days. :) |
A little late to respond -- sorry. I'm SO sorry to hear about the accident and the apparent total loss of your vehicle. As most have already saiid, though, as much as we love our Xs, it IS a vehicle that can be replaced (with another X5, of course :D). Your and your son's health is a LOT more important. Glad to see you two walked away safely.
I just saw the pics on the other thread.... sad to see the car in that condition, but happy to see that it protected and your little one. Juan |
Glad that you and your son are ok...The X can always be replaced.
glad to hear that you and your son came out unscathed.. now up pick up a 4.8is! :)

You just answered another thread on why we buy X5's - Glad you are all safe - You can't put a $ value on safety - I've never driven any other vehicle that feels as solid & safe as the X5 - I'm sorry you ended up finding that out the hard way - Again, glad you are okay.
Sorry to hear about your loss... But as everyone has put it, its just another thing that could be replaced... The most important thing is that you and your son are OK!!!
It hasn't been a bad day...... because your sense of value in purchasing a quality vehicle like an X5 has protected your most precious thing, the life of your son.
Very glad to hear you are both ok..... X5 can be replaced, you both cannot. |
Wow - sorry to hear Philip. Glad you and your son are OK.
Sorry about the loss, but as we all have said, the X did exactly what it was supposed to do. Glad you and your son are OK.
Now, when is the 4.8is getting delivered? |
Glad that you and your son were OK, Safety is one of the things I love about the X5 it feels so secure. Good reason to go for the 4.8is

Sucks big time! at least you and your son are fine.
 |
Hey Phil, sorry to hear about your mishap. It's comforting to know that you and your son faired well after such bad luck. Hang in there! The crew will all be here when you return..........Phil
Pepatrick - Man, sorry to hear that and I'm glad you and your son are OK. All those mods are now gone, huh?
Pepatrick, really sorry to hear about the crash. I am so glad to hear that you and your son are ok. That is the most important thing here, the rest is material. We can thank the X5 for that. I did not comment on your crash before cause I am on a trip in Europe and do not have always time and access to the internet. Take care
What part of 400 was it?
North of exit 17 on 400. I am almost in Dawsonville...only about 2 to 3 miles from the house when it happened.
