Help me too!
I was playing around with the starting code on the nav screen and managed to lose track of things and set off the alarm. I disconnected the negative for 5 mins, reattached it and watched for the 10 min count down. It counted down for a couple of minutes, but the screen went blank. I waited over 10 min on a timer, but no good.
The owner's manual says the procedure works before the alarm goes off. Since it did, I guess I have to go to step 2 to really reset everything. I called the dealer and they said it would have to be towed in and reset on their computer. Maybe there is a way to do this at home? Certainly appreciate any help. Thanks, Carl |
Ok, I'll reply to myself because I figured it out.
Just before I called that 800 tow number, I remembered how sensitive the voltage requirements are for these Xs. So, I jumped it and everything was fine and remains so. Just playing around with this stuff probably caused the loss of a volt or two and that just messed everything up. The 10-second countdown was probably happening, but likely was incomplete in some way. The full 12 volts allowed the reset. That's what I think. The only problem I see is that the gas gauge shows empty right after one of those spendy refills. I think I saw the cure for that somewhere on this site. Unless someone stole all my gas:( The moral is, do make sure the battery is charged fully if you have odd control problems. |
