Anyone have luck with the hid fogs from ebay?

My hid fogs are complete junk, they never really worked that well and one side has stopped working altogether.

There are a bunch of kits on ebay for $60-100.... anyone used these?

Or point me in the right direction on where to get some at.

I dont want to spend more than $100.

As they say, you will always get what you pay for. Chip in another $100 & you will get a decent set with warranty from umnitza.

I agree, but i paid $170 for the last ones from bavtoys.com and they sucked, I'm pretty sure bavtoys is related to umnitza

Other members have had trouble with umnitza also.

Based on the last 4 sets I bought from ebay under $100, I'd say I'm right. I haven't tried that seller from your link & might work. I'd say "good find."

and the EBAY is not the bad store, dont get it mix up with other BRAND NAME store.most memebers here think that stuff on ebay is cheap, but it not depend on wath you buy and who you buy it from.

example if the umnitza sell they stuff on EBAY then ppl. think that is cheap stuff too?

don't get me wrong. I am with u on this one buddy. I do ebay too. I was simply referring to the cheap ones on ebay that sucks since krunkman didnt even specify the vendor. I have bought at least 100 items on ebay myself. But since he is having problems with them, I was under the impression he got those not so good ones so we are cool man!

Krunk,

They cost more, but this is where I got my new headlights back in February. I'm sure you heard of Dave at www.customangeleyes.com

I just ordered my HID fogs from his other site www.angelibrite.com

I highly recomend his solution....top notch! look up E53 and then scroll down to HID Fog solution...he also has a xenon match, but I'm sure we both already did that mod if we are on to HID fogs!

Hope this helps!

I have to agree with the fact that alot of the kits sold on ebay are garbage but there are a few cheap kits that actually have worked quite well for me.

Alot of people who have tried installing HIDs into their fogs on bimmers have had problems not with the kit itself but with the amount of power the ballasts initially draw. Thats why some times one side will not come on immediately but will come on after a few minutes if you switch it on and off and certain ballasts won't power on at all no matter what you do. The only solution I found for this was to buy a custom wiring harness that allows you to tap in to the battery power direclty to run the ballasts for the fogs. The only problem I have found with that is your stuck with light-out errors because the error-cancelling boxes won't work with that harness as it uses its own relay. I have put days into trying to find a perfect solution and that is as close as I've come. I'm trying to find a way to disable the bulb check altogether from the ECU but I haven't quite gotten there yet. I'll keep you updated if I find a way.

There is a new kit out from Bavtoys for $175 that is supposed to work no matter what on the cars - it's an analog kit. Just tell them which year you need and they can send it to you. It's an error-canceling kit.
