2004 X5 3.0 Oil Consumption
 

My X has begun to use a quart of oil every 3500 miles begining at 80k miles. I find this perplexing since there was no oil consumption previously. It seems to me that there would have been some oil usage until the engine was broken in but should cease once rings and seals are seated. Does anyone have any experience with a similar circumstance? Thanks

Oil consumption on the long road
 

I have noticed that my cons increases if I drive on the long road, even though I travel at 100km/h. On ave I use about 250ml per 1000kms, on my 3.0i Pertrol with 175000kms.

Mine does the same thing. I got 98k miles on mine...its normal i think..I just top it off from time to time...
