monitor to replace radio screen?
Got loads of dead pixels on my radio / onboard computer orange screen. Rather than spend a fortune just to replace this item, wondered if it is possible (easy?) to upgrade to a 16:9 monitor, just to use the monitor function. Don't have sat nav or TV functions and not bothered about getting them, just after a smarter clearer screen for on board computer, radio and CD changer control.

not possible even without tv or gps function, you will need radio tuner for audio, harness to connect the devices and nav computer to handle the interface so therefore, you will need the complete setup.

Does anyone know if BMW has a "program" to replace the screens like they do when the dash pixels go? Thanks, since mine are starting to go.

You could ask the dealer to run an "out of warranty goodwill repair" query. However if the car is more than 5 years old or has very high mileage it will probably return the "vehicle beyond goodwill limits" answer. Other prerequisites include a full BMW service history.
There are specialists who can repair the problem on the cluster, MID and digital climate control displays. In the UK there's clusterrepairsuk.co.uk Stateside there's VDORepair.com |
