Taking off 4 spoke steering wheel ..problem #1

it is on a non-sport x5 3.0. What kind of screwdriver do I need to unscrew screws on the back to take the airbag off. I do not think there are clips on the back. The round airbag with the 3 spoke one probably does but the 4 spoke definitely doesn't.

I believe it is 40 or 45 torx... there are 2 of them on the back of the wheel. 16mm for the steering bolt.

T30 torx

Thanks. T30 it is. Problem #2. Is there any special way to get those screws out? I used a stubby screwdriver with a T30 bit and the none of the screws want to turn.

Anything else I can try?

I use a 1/4 in. torx socket on a 1/4 in. rachet. Use quality tools! Stripping the torx heads will have you SOL.

yes...good tools. Also...they are torqued down pretty good. Use an extender and you may have push up in there. But..you probably will not be able to do it by hand. Get a rachet..
