Remus Installed

2 Attachment(s)
I got a great deal on these from Dark BMW (Thanks Dennis!) and finally got them installed today. The before and after pictures are attached. I really preferred the oval look of the Ractiv tips, but loves the sound of the Remus much more. It just "purrrrrrrrr" on my little 3.0i with the stock resonator (if any of the old gang remember supergreg's video, you know what I'm talking about  )

By the way, anyone have the Remus system installed on their '04+ X? I noticed during the install that the flanges between the Remus and the OEM Resonator doesn't quite meet up all the way. Anyone have this problem?

Looks great fellow Remus club member. ;) I love the look and the "purr" of the Remus on my 3.0. That video is definitely an all-time classic. That was at WestFest III and my cat still purrs louder than SG's Remus and he's 10 this year. :nanana:

in Kali4nia (california) I dont think it will pass smoke check if delete the resinator.

Thanks for the  guys. I must say that the Remus looks VERY nice off the car...the tips are very well finished...very good quality overall. However, it's a bit tame after installing on the car, almost looking like a stock 4.4i from a distance.

Congrats on another great upgrade.

I doubt the resonator will affect the smog test. I would love to add an X-pipe in place of the resonator, but finding a compentent muffler shop to do all the fabs for it is another story. Besides, I'm not sure I would like the rust that comes along with welding them all together.

Looks top class! Very nice system :2thumbs:

Do you have an more pics of the system. Looking for the rear sections.

dkl 07-04-2008 03:19 PM

steed, I'm not sure I understand what you want to see. There's a complete write up posted on the home page, so I didn't see the point of taking additional pictures of my install. => http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/e...on-bmw-x5.html

The only difference on my '04 (from the home page article) is that there are additional grounding points attached to the rear hangers of the OEM mufflers, which the Remus did not provide. I had the muffler shop take them off from the OEM mufflers and weld it to the Remus.

It won't. I recently passed CA smog with no problems.

dkl 07-04-2008 04:58 PM

Speaking of smog test...where did you take your for the test? I'm assuming that the test station would have to have a 4wd dyno? Thanks.

zerochief 07-04-2008 05:02 PM

Any smog station. A 4wd dyno is not used for the test. They just rev the motor in neutral to the required RPM.

The Remus system looks really good....love the stainless steel tips with the logo!

It may look like a 4.4i from a distance, but rest assured that most drivers on the road don't know about a 4.8 tip vs. a 4.4 tip. I think the double tips you have now project a lot more power, and are more visually strong than the previous look:thumbup: Good job!

Sorry...I don't have a video or sound clip. Take a look at Zerochief's video and sound; it's not as loud on the little 3.0i, of course. There are also a few clips on youtube as well.

You can pick up a set of Remus at Bavauto and a few other places. I got mine slightly used from a forum member here. There's only one Remus model for the X5.
