dip stick joke
 

the techs at bmw couldnt have come up a with more difficult dip stick to read. what a joke! couldnt they have at least used a constrasting color or even just a plain old metal one ? a grade schooler could have done better! just had to vent! i get pissed every time i check the oil.

Now that you mention it, after almost 7 yrs of squinting, I agree...
the color/lack of contrast/odd shape is to blame. I kind of tilt
it and just try and pick out the "wet level" on the tip...
not a huge deal, but good observation; I thought it was just my
old eyes.

Yes, though not sure about any lettering...I may need to get out
my 20X power loupe, :rofl:

if the oil is black and needs changing i think this then provides the needed contrast.
if you are having a hard time seeing the oil, then no need for a change!

Unless you are burning oil of course! You might think it is just hard to see, but in reality, it's just not there.

Can't you just see the colour of the oil when you wipe it off with a clean paper towel? That's what I always do anyway.

Oh, BMW stopped putting dipsticks on the newer BMWs. Be glad your E53 X5 still has one.
