Cleaning the rims for the '05 X5

Hi, I know there was a thread in the past about cleaning the rims. These are so hard to clean and then only stay clean for a very short period of time. Any suggestions on what you guys are using to clean the rims?

Thanks
David

Change over to Axxis Deluxe Plus Pads.

Agree 100% - you can find these pads here along with a great guy to help answer any questions you may have. The difference is night and day!

Detailing Forum

Look at the Detailing Forum. That's where you'll find lots of posts on the topic.

Myself, I use Michelin non-acidic spray wheel cleaner, but there are lots of good brands on the market (of course, the BMW wheel cleaner is excellent).

If you use wheel wax periodically, it will protect the wheels and make them much easier to clean in the future. You will find the amount of brake dust that collects on the wheels will be a fraction of what it was previously. There are good threads in the Detailing Forum that talk about wheel wax.

Do they brake as well as the OEM pads???
Thanks

i've had them for about a month now, and haven't noticed any difference between them and OEM.

the only concern I had was that b/c my X is still under warranty, I would have to pay out of pocket to get these done and replaced again when needed. But, it was money well spent. Warranty won't be voided unless BMW can prove that the pads specifically caused something to fail.

As cheap as BMW rotors and pads are...(unless you are crazy enough to go the dealer) it is worth every penny to put on Axxis deluxe pads. Ive got a pair of pagid pads sitting around from a 540i that I wont use because they leave too much dust. Axxis is the way to go.

I know it could be a pain in cleaning the brake dust on the rims. I have a little duster that i used almost everyday before i jump into my X5. I have the wheels that are very easy to clean the brake dust off..thank god!! I used one for the rims and one for my X5. If you dont let the dust built up its easier to keep them clean. A car with clean rims doesnt necesarily has to be washed. well.. sometimes...In my opinion. :)
