Front Seat / Cushion Removal

Has anyone replaced their seat covers? I need to replace the lower cushion and the leather would be nice to freshen up.

Any step by steps or contacts for recovering the seat would be appreciated.

Also I have pixels from the NAV missing - looking for advice besides contacting the dealer to replace the screen.

Thank you

When I purchased my 2003 X5 with sport seats, I knew I would have to repair the driver's seat because it looked very worn. There is a special leather clamp tool that is needed. I purchased the tool, a couple hundred clamps, and a bottom leather seat cover from Morristown.

I then completely removed the driver's seat from the X, and began taking apart the bottom cushion. I noticed that the foam underneath was deteriorated, and bits were flaking off everywhere. I took some pics, and drove to my local BMW dealer, and they said it would be warranty work to repair the foam, and resulting worn leather.

I was able to return the seat cover to Morristown, minus 20% I believe, which was fine.

I know this isn't too helpful, but I can say that the project is time consuming, and difficult if you've never had any leather repair experience,

Greg
