Ordering MY 06 4.8is
 

Is it a bad idea to order 2006 X5 4.8is, knowing that new X5 is coming out as 2007 model?

nonsense, go for 4 it and enjoy it when it gets here!

Not at all! The last production year is usually the best! IMHO

I would say that it is not a bad idea. The truck is amazing. I had ordered a MY 2006 and was just about to take delivery of it when I found a 2004 with 6K miles on it just last week. It was over $13K less expensive and seemed too good to pass up. The only issue that I see is that dealerships are still not dealing much on the 4.8 and that is what made me change my mind on the deal I made. Some dealers were not willing to deal at all. I advise that you look around at nearly new 4.8's before deciding what a good deal on a new one is.

Go for it. The 4.8is is a BEAST!!!

The 4.8 replacement will not be there till 2008 model year. Go for it. :thumbup:

You should think about a Performance Center Delivery. You will have a blast!

Just do it because I know you won't be disappointed. The current 4.8 is practically bullet proof. The '07 will suffer from new model roll out problems that no one on this board will be able to help you with for a while. I bought a 2002 ///M Roadster at the end of the model run (Jul '02) and love it. It is the best iteration of that car and I still prefer it to the Z4, et. al. Getting the '06 is a good idea. Hope this helps.
