Look what the dealers did to my X.....

Took my X in for a central heater vent to be replaced under warranty as the hot/cold switch was broken. It was very minor but thought I couldn't live with the fact that the hot cold roll switch would not stay the cold position.

Anyway it was all authorised to have it replaced so I took the car in the following week to swap it out.

After it was done I picked the car up got home and the next day noticed this

Looks like the technician had been a little reckless when fitting the new vent, he'd obviously torn, cracked the dash. Its approx an inch long and not very good to look at.

Anyway I went straight back to the dealers and pointed this out and explained my dissatisfaction they tried to say they would repair it with glue........no way I said, your fault.

Anyway after the assistant manager made few trips back managers office they agreed to replace the whole dash. They have to take out the whole internal front of the car, trim, dash, clocks, glove box, air bags, sat nav, switches. They say they need the car for 3 days to replace the dash, as you can expect its a massive job but at least I'll get a whole new dash.

Anyone any idea on how much a new dash is going to cost them plus 3 days labour?

WOW! This is how you know it's a service dept you keep going to. If it was the US, the dealer would deny all blame, esp if it was such a major repair to fix the mistake.

I've been going to the same dealers for the past 10 years with my last 8 BMW's and I know the main guys there, to be honest they were really good and agreed to replace it.

I had a quick look and the dash alone is £800 / $1,600 quite a costly mistake for them

What dealer CarbonBlack?

I have problems with damage or stuff not correctly done every time mine is booked in. Two of the worst were the stuff cover on the A-pillar/airbag cover on my 330i Sport ripped, and a huge ding in my rear sports bumper where it had been reversed into something 'sharp'. The latter they denied all responsibility for and it cost me >£500 to get fixed.

Name and shame I say.......
