Big problem ! please help asap

I got a big problem, every evening i put my start code on the control panel of my x5, this morning when i tried to start the car with my code, it didn't work, he didn''t accept the code i used ( wich is the correct one ) and after couple tries the alarm went off. afterwords i checked the users manual and there's an way to go past this, i'll write here what is written in the users manual ;
After three incorrect code entries, or
three attempts to start the engine
without a code entry, the alarm will
sound for 30 seconds on vehicles fitted
with an alarm system.
Deactivating the alarm in an
emergency:
If you have forgotten the code, proceed
as follows:
1. Disconnect the battery, wait approx.
2 minutes, then reconnect it. Note
that on vehicles with an alarm
system, the alarm will sound
2. Set the ignition key to position 1:
The time display will count down for
the next ten minutes
3. After ten minutes, start the engine.

So i did all this and the engine works fine now, but the problem is my remote key locking doesn't work anymore, my alarm is also out of working order, and the interier light only front one doesn't work. but if i press the buttom to open the trunk, it works, but doors don't open/ close. Anyone has a problem like this before or can tell me where to look , ... ? i checked the fuses underneath the gloves department and there all good. ( the ones that work for the key locking. so i hope you guys can help because in 2 days i leave for holliday and i hope i can solve it. thanks in advance.

If the key doesn't work after a drive, I suspect you may need the dealer to reprogram the keys. If that's the case you can secure your X the old fasion way. . .Lock the doors with the key, until you get back from holiday.

Have you tried to put the key into the door to lock and unlock the car the old fashion way?

...

Yeah that works, but only the remote doesn't work, and my alarm isn't as well. The interiuer light only the front center one doesn't work aswell.

OK, so you can lock the doors. You can go on holiday and worry about getting it reprogramed when you get back.

I guess I don't understand the problem.

If I have it right, you can lock the car mechanically with the key in the door; but, the alarm doesn't set. You can start and drive the car without issue.

I believe the process you went through reset the alarm system. As I understand it, it needs to be reprogramed by the dealer. As a result you have few options:

1. Take it to the dealer to have them reprogram it before you go.
2. Take it to a dealer in the South of France to reprogram it while you are there.
3. Take it as is, enjoy your holiday, locking the doors with the key and have it reprogramed upon your return.
4. Take a different car.

I guess I don't think the alarm is as important as some. An alarm has never stopped anyone from getting what they want. If someone wants to get some thing from your car they will take it. If a professional wants to take the whole car they will just put it on a flatbed tow truck and drive it away. Twenty years ago, people would look and take notice of a car alarm going off. Now, people look the other way in annoyance of the noise.

Sorry, I couldn't be of more help.

I think he is using the code option through the radio/computer.

As I understand it, that has all been reset to not being in use. Also as a result, the key fob no longer will activate/deactivate the alarm or lock/unlock the doors. It will; however, open the hatch (a saftey feature).

In order to fix this, the dealer must have both keys and they must "re-pair" them to the vehicle.

The reason for this is so someone cannot completely disable the vehicle. Think about a disgruntled employee and what they would be able to do to a dealers lot full of cars if a complete reset wasn't available. on a much less grand scale, think about someone who bought a used car and forgot the code.

It is BMW's way of offering help for this exact reason; but, they are also able to limit who can reset the system to prevent theft, IE. . . ten minute count down time and need to reprogram the key fobs.
