DIY Maintenance Checklist
 

Hi all,
I'm putting together a list of maintenance items to take care of on an '01 4.4 with 50k miles.

Here is what I've got so far:

change engine oil
fuel filter
air filter

grease front hubs (Are these hubs on the front only? Is the fitting easy to locate?)

change brake fluid (Is this necessary? Any DIY guides to this?)

change front/rear differential fluid (Is this necessary/any guides available?)

This is all I've got so far. Please chime in with any suggestions and/or comments on my plan. Thanks for reading!

A/C (cabin) filter
Oil Filter
Flush coolant

depending on your tools available or what you are willing to spend for additional tools...

you can add:
- brake pads and rotors
- front control arms
- wiper blades
- light bulbs
- clean out radiator grill of bugs/leafs/debris
- 4 wheel alignment

we can use a great more number of DIY's... but you can always ask how to do something here if there isn't a diy article on it yet, i'm sure tons of people can walk you through it...

Thanks for the suggestions. Are any special tools required for the front control arms? Why do they need to be replaced at 50K miles?

Sports-tuned suspensions handle a greater stressload and some of the bushings will just wear over time, unless you drive like you're drivin' Miss Daisy. Totally normal, I had some play in the suspension at just over 60K. Coolant is recommended to be drained and refilled with brand new coolant-water mixture at 4 years or 60,000 miles in the X.
