Warranty question
I just discovered that the front CV boot is completely ripped open. I have no idea how long its been like this. The CV joint is not making any noise and I cannot identify any actual problem with the CV joint itself other than there's dirt in it.
I have extended BMW original owner Warranty and maintenence, both with about 16 months of coverage left. My question is, will the warranty cover this and should I take it in now or just wait for the CV joint itself to start going out? I don't want to get a new CV boot only, I want the whole CV joint replaced. Thanks, Johnny C 2003 X5 3.0 |
Without making it an afternoon research project:
The "O2P" ext warr. you have is identical in coverage to the CPO ext warranty. If one reads the items "covered" under CPO, it says "front and rear suspension... if one reads what is "not covered", it say wear items in f & r suspension...Huh? Lol! It will vary by stlr to stlr and your relationship with the dlr. Besides the BMW Dbl Talk, I seem to recall that your handy Ext Maintenance agreement should cover CV boots, or the combo of your O2P/Maint deals should...if it were mine, and I had both programs, I would expect the CV boots to be covered.
