side view mirror replacement

i've been searching the site, ebay, and the internet in jeneral looking for a replacement piece of glass for my drivers side mirror. i'm pretty sure i can slide the glass up and replace the whole assembly. the glass has some ghosting going on, (purple shadow). i may call a salvage yard and see i can get a mirror and just take the glass from it.

the rubber trip is also in bad shape, but i think this is part of the mirror that i can remove and replace, is that the case? then i'll have to get my hands on one, and some new headlights too cause they are shot as well. (suggestions)

google BMW used parts. If you start looking into some of the junk yards they will hound you for weeks to sell you parts. I found out the hard way. It wasn't even parts for me.

tony-

the replacement of the side mirrors are super simple...i recently replaced both of my mirror glass because of the "typical rust" look they turn into after years of weather and wash.

1. tilt your mirrors upwards towards the sky

2. find a small flat kitchen tool...like a good ol' hamburger flipper! use a hard plastic type so you dont scratch any paint etc

3. place on the bottom of the mirror glass and pry upwards...it will take just a lil bit of pressure to pop the mirror bracket off.

4. disconnect the heating wires etc.....reverse to install the mirrors

5. it took me prob 5 mins to do each side....first time ever...super easy
