OIL USE

I have a 2004 X5 3.0 with about 38000 miles on it. The check oil level warning came up on my display. I took it into the dealer and was told that in approximately 9000 miles my X5 burned 3 quarts of oil. I asked the Service advisor and he said that that is normal. My question is. Is it normal?

Absolutely "normal" and well within BMW "specs"...

yup it's normal.BMW is famous about burning oil.

I never add a drop of oil into mine even after 5k miles. I check the oil level every week. My X is close to 80k

My 01' 4.4 has 100K miles and uses less than 1/2 quart between 10K oil changes.
