blank key programming, anybody?
 

:thumbup: Hi, I have a question for you good fellas, I have a blank key (it's already cut, and remote options working), but it does not start the car. My closest dealer won't do it, cause the car was not bought from them. So, I am looking to some systems, GT1 DISS, that are out there, on ebay mainly, I'd love to have it, but I am wondering if it also can code a key, I can't seem to get a straigh answer on this. Any info will be greatly appreciated!!

there are some people that know how to do it, but from what I read is that there are 8 or 9 keys pre-made for each car and if you loose one of your 2 you go to a dealer and dealer orders one for you out of those 8 or 9 keys. (under $200) There is that chip in the key that's pre-programmed for your cars' lock and if you got the key custom cut and remote programmed for your car as in your case, but the chip is not programmed for your lock it won't work (as you can see now). As I said before, there are some people (underground) that know how to program that chip and have special equipment for it. I don't think dealership has that equipment as they only order a key that's already made. Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

i just got an extra key for my 2000 M roady from my dealer and only paid $60. i didnt think that was outrageous at all, so i didnt even bother going any other route.

You got lucky! some dealers will charge up to $200, $60 for a blank key! anyways, I haven't got a price yet, but I did find a key programmer, for 120 GBP on ebay uk, and there's another one for 250 GB, which is the one I bought.........will let you guys know how it works.....here's the link if you wanna check it out:

Why couldn't you just buy a key from a BMW for less? Why spend $500?

Just for info, in Lebanon i paid only $50 for a black smith to reprogram my key and it works.
