Dyno-mite!

4 Attachment(s)
Finally found an all wheel drive dyno and strapped my X in. I wanted to see if the last mod paid off. I recently added an X pipe and it felt more torquey around 3900 rpm's, the sound is a little over kill at WOT, but around town is has a deep sort of a growl! As it stands I picked up around 16 hp and 10 ftp of torque. I also changed the Dinan air filter just prior to this test, so that combined with the X pipe and my beast has never breathed better!

I tried to attach a video clip, but for some reason it would not upload to the web-site, the file format that the video was shot in is .mov and I think the Xworld will only take .wmv, I'm not sure how to convert it or if it's even possible?! If i figure it out I will add video clips later. Until then I guess you will just have to settle for a few pic's.

So what are your power numbers?

chilliwilli 07-27-2008 12:39 AM

What's your average MPG city/highway?

steed77 07-27-2008 07:18 AM

Graphs, lets see them. Also did they to A/F?

Are those numbers your total gains including S3 or with just the addition of the X-pipe?

bigfish 11-11-2008 11:40 PM

Chili,

Those gains are with S3 Dinan package and the X-pipe. The X-pipe was the most recent mod. After the Brembo BBK. Also mileage is around 10-13 around town (depending on how much I get into it) and 15-19 freeway (again depending on how I'm feel'n that day).

So what are the total numbers to the wheels with everything as it stands now, charger and all?

Wagner 11-12-2008 05:38 AM

I asked that question back in July of 2008 :)

X5Flyboy 11-12-2008 06:25 AM

Where? Where? Where? - would love to put my Dinan S2 upgrade thru a dyno - I already know I can beat Mustang 5.0s (at half my wgt), but would love to get some actual numbers - best hwy mileage was 22.7mpg using Chevron (20.1mpg using just about anything else) - around town it's ditto, how frisky do I feel, but usually 13-17mpg

:wow: Wait...so per dyno, that puts you at around roughly 360hp / 360lb feet tq. Why does Dinan advertise 450hp? I was seriously considering an upgrade by adding the supercharger (before i heard about X5 ///M) but with the gains you're posting, i'm not sure if the $ would've been worth it... :dunno: ...

Anyhoo...i'm sure she must still be an even lovelier beast!

Mister2 11-12-2008 10:50 AM

If he is putting down 360hp at the wheels, it should be around 450hp at the crank. That sounds about right then.

I got a few mustang chunks in my stool. ;) ;) Mostly highway, a couple jerks who just had to prove something.  Hitting those corners at speed is no comparison.

Hey! I know better than to take on a Rousch Mustang - and they haven't been single pipe Mustangs, but dual pipe sport setups - however, I do backdown by 75-80mph - I'd really like to get on a dragstrip to find out my 1/4 mile time & speed

jst2878 11-12-2008 03:43 PM

definitely stock mustangs......thats it.

bigfish 11-13-2008 01:10 AM

numbers of the beast............

Hey guys sorry it took me a while to realize that I didn't post my numbers on this thread, I guess I had done it on another or PM'd someone. I also got hung up on trying to upload a video clip of my beast on the dyno. I'm pretty tech savvy but every time I thought I had figured it out it the dam web-site wouldn't let me?????

Anyway sorry for the long answer to the short question. I had three pulls and my numbers were as follows: 390, 388, 385. Getting fresh air to the motor was a huge problem at the shop I went to. By the second pull, it was already breathing in spent exhaust and it go worse.

I sure wish I could have posted the video clip, it was pretty crazy seeing the X strapped down and going like ape shit!

You can upload the video to YouTube or Photobucket and then post a link to it here. I would love to see it!

Nice! :D Worth every penny i'm sure...if you ever get a chance to track, please post 0-60 & 1/4 mile. I assume you would probably post similar or better numbers than the X6 50i.
