02 X5 3.0 Steering Noise

Noise is coming from the power steering. When you first start driving the car and move the steering to the right or left is makes a moaning noise. Stops when you are going straight. Could it just be the fluid level is low?
Tried to find the "Check level" to no avail.....
Any help would be appreciated.

The power steering fluid is actually ATF (automatic transmission Fluid), the canister is located next to the oil filter canister. Typically, you check the fluid level with the engine running and there is a dip stick attached to the lid.

I discovered that the sound is a friction of the steering wheel with the pillar
just try to move the wheel slowly u wont hear it.. faster then u will hear it so there is no problem thank GOD :D

Even i have observed this .... in my case i dont know how to describe the sound.... its like a robot makes when it moves in movies... but its not that audible...... and the sound comes when i turn in any direction. I believe and hope its its friction from the rubbing... please let me know otherwise.... Thanks!
