Yes, homework is very wrong!!!

I just saw an 06 4.4i with every option except RB & Tow. 22k miles for $32 in Oregon. Many other 4.4i's going OTD for mid-upper $20k, but with 20-40k miles. If you are desperate you will be beamed aboard the stealership and taken away to "ripped by the stealership planet"

It is exciting to get a new car, but don't let it control you. You are in full control.

I bought an 04 4.4i with 17.5k miles in March for $28k. Now I'm thinking I should have waited and got an 05 or 06. 04 has no BT. Oh well! I still love the car and it was the color I wanted.

The price you have would be good for a 4.4i. You should really look into 4.4i, so much more power. :zoom:
Good luck!

so much power.... but so much more problems with Tranny .... 3.0 tranny is more reliable then the 4.4... its a known fact.... the ZF for 3.0 is a better unit then the 4.4.....:p:

True. I'll trade the power and punch for tranny risks. That's what warranties are for. To each his own...

P.S. nice avatar!

Having just been to my dealer for a service and meandering their lot while I waited, I would say $32,000+ is high. I saw '04 and '05 X5's with the same warranty etc for under 30. And get the 4.4.

Thank you all but

the dealers definitely aren't budging...or I haven't given it enough time. nobody is calling me back too quickly even though I've expressed interest as a buyer...they may be playing the game also...b/c , in my opinion, eventually someone will come in and buy the x5 at or close to their listing prices. these dealerships are happy selling to the impulse buyers....it makes sense....wealthy people are still wealthy...and they care less about gas mileage than the masses. To be honest, this is would be my first BMW, and i care very little about fuel economy, since this won't be my main car. But I am here because there seems to value in this particular SUV relative to the other ones out there...plus it looks a hell of a lot better...There are very few people on these boards that are saying they got an incredible deal or even a great deal for that matter. Someone mentioned a good deal in Oregon......that is in Oregon!!! I live in central New Jersey and work in Manhattan; I think the numbers that I presented were "deals" relative to the area I live in.

I have just got a 2003 3.0i full optional (without nav and bluethoot) with 85000 miles for 14900 plus taxes , is it a good price?

Bimmer4125 08-19-2008 02:46 PM

I live in upstate NY, so the market may have been more competitive for the dealer to sell lower. If you live in Jersey and work in Manhatten then you know you'll be paying a premium. That being said, maybe the one you're looking at is typical of the market - it sounds like a very nice car - low mileage and all.
Sometimes you have to say screw it and get what you want without the opinion of others. I figure as long as I leave the dealers lot with a big grin on my face I got a good deal. But look for a 4.4.

Few things...

They will budge. Give it a few days.

There are tons of X5s out there for sale exactly like the one you want. Be patient...you'll find it.

The members on here make up less than 1% of the total number of X5s out there. So just because people aren't on here talking about great deals, doesn't mean they aren't getting them.

findog 08-19-2008 02:51 PM

Wait! They will come to you or you will find and equivalent at your price. I bought a loaded, low mileage 04 3.0 back in January for $24K, dealer had it listed at $32K. He said he could not take my initial offer of $24K because it was "below" his cost. After 30 days sitting on the lot, he was begging me to come get it.

princetonX5 08-19-2008 02:56 PM

So it would probably help immensely if....

I stayed away from Princeton and Manhattan dealerships? I really don't see them budging too too much. One of them didn't even remember me when I called to follow up..bearing in mind that I came in with my wife and she fell in love with the car......I guess the economy was not affecting his business!
