Range Rover...trans failsafe
 

Hi, not posted since i had my first X5. Had another one since then but now have a L322 Range rover 2003 Diesel Auto.

Had a little look through some posts and seems a failry common prob.

Im assuming this car is basically an x5 as its got the same engine and box and was designed by BMW...

Anyway, ive got a fault showing up on the dash "trans Failsafe Prog".

Its happening more and more now and its popping up when the box changes gear. This error is designed to keep the box in 3rd gear.

I took it to a LR specialist and was relieved to discover there was no problem with the auto box as theyre £2350.00.

However there is a problem with the signals to the transfer box, a possible problem with the transfer box ecu.

The guy reset it all and said it might be ok but its got worse so im taking it back next week.

Any one got ideas what the prob could be and how much it could cost to fix?
