Brushed Aluminum Running Boards..

Hi,
I really like how they look. I want to know how they install, is it easy? Is it just a snap on snap off thing? Or is it a full replacement? I don't want to spend over $700 and have someone be able to take them off my car. Thanks.

I installed them on my X5... It was pretty easy. It took me about two hours. I had some buddies come over and help me, so it wasn't hard. There are plastic rivets that hold the plastic trim on, but the aluminum is bolted on. I would say go for a DIY... Just make sure you have a plastic rivet gun.... It's impossible to do it without one. I found that out the hard way right at the final stage of installation.

Get some spare rivets and as CJ mentioned the Rivet Gun which you can find at the Napa parts store.

Installed 'em in 2 hours--the rivet gun and extra rivets are essential. Love the look. Some people complain that stepping out of the X is more difficult, especially with sport seats. It is possible to wipe your pants leg across the boards, and if they are wet and dirty, without making sure not to hit the boards, your pants can get mucked up. I have not had that problem, but I make sure to be careful when the X is wet.

Thanks does anyone know where to get them a little cheaper? $725 is a very high price to pay in my opinion.

Try www.pacificbmw.com They had quoted me $525.

Depending on where you live, shipping could cost another $130 from West to East coast (as in my case). I ended up buying the kit from my local dealer and since I know some of the guys in the parts counter, they gave me 20% discount on the kit and the 4.6is fender flares.
