X5 Transfer Box

Will a transfer box from a 2003 Range Rover fit my 2001 X5?
Does it matter Diesel / Petrol?

I've been told conflicting stories!!:dunno:

Please help.

I've had more trouble with my X than any other car I've owned, I still like it but just want it to be reliable.:pullhair:
