LED Door Entry Lights
A year or so ago I purchased one of these expensive "ultra white" (i.e. regular bulbs painted blue) bulb kits for the interior lights in the X5. Love the color, however, the light output is horrible. The one area that I really needed the brighter light was in the rear hatch area. So I purchased some LED bulbs from www.autolumination.com and MAN, what a difference!!!! The light output is like 500x what the "ultra white" bulbs were. So, I am gradually replacing all the interior bulbs with these LEDs. Here are some rough pics of the door entry lights.

Looks great! Could you please post the type of bulb (model number) used in each area? Thanks.

Are you driving a nuclear-powered X5? |
Interesting;
Picture #1 seems to have better coverage over all. Picture #2 Looks bluer but the coverage looks more confined. |

sleepless, this is very hard to do... all you need is switching out the existing lights bulds. |
Hi X5Dawg, I followed your lead, sought of and replaced stnd bulbs with LED's in my rear number plate and boot area (trunk) today. When I went to start the engine (lights off) the instrument cluster (dash) screen says "check number plate"....
with the wife looking on at the rear she commented that the LED's on the no. plate flash (pulstate regularly) when I started the engine (with lights off :dunno: ???), they then settle down after a few secs & stopped flashing. After turning on the lights they emit an impressive steady bright white/blue light. This tells me that the no. plate lights will flash even during the day when starting the X (not good surely). I appreciate that LED's draw a lot less than stnd bulbs and could possibly be sending a signal that the 'stnd globes' have blown. The new no. plate bulbs = 3 Watts, boot 0.7 Watts. Did you had the same problem???:nervous: Like you I propose to change all interior bulbs with LED's, but NOT if this prob is going to continue!!!! Should I not be installing a resistor of some kind,.,.,.,.Please help.... _________________ Business conventions are important because they demonstrate how many people a company can operate without. |
