No wonder 87's look so big
I was wondering why the 20" 87 wheels looked so big on the X5; At least alot bigger than most 20's I see on the X. I measured the face of the wheel and the tape measure read 21.5 inches! I love the wheels..

Good choice looks just like mine. Think I remember reading that most of the oem rims are bigger. Are those AFS?
Not sure, I bought them off a dealer like most poeple have done and saved a couple grand. The rims are nearly identicle to BMW wheels though.
Looks to me like they're replicas 21" or 22". You better NOT put the regular OEM size 275/40-20F and 315/35-20R tire combo on them. I'd never seen an OEM rim that is that far off from its measurements.

I think it should be fine. That's the same size the tires that were on the wheels before. The tires were bare so I scrapped them.

Wow, I measured mine out. Replica style 87 and they are 21.5 inches. No problem with the 20 inch toyo tires. Best upgrade I ever made.
what's the best place to pick a set of these up?
AFS $850 new. maybe all 20's are 21.5 inch, all 20" tires are the same.
Just to clarify - the 20" size is measured as the inner diameter of the rim and does NOT include the lip of the rim - so these rims will fit regular 20" tires just fine.
Go out and measure the rims on your X5 now - My 19's are over 20" from lip to lip... |
