window wiper for 2002 x5

anyone has any advise for the best window wipers for 2002 x5?

rainx? seems pretty cool from a commercial, but they are not compatible?

I'm a HUGE fan of the Bosch ICON wiper blades. They work like magic. Best blades I've ever bought, I've been putting them on all my vehicles. Only thing is you lose the cool blade spoiler on the driver side but I believe Bosch has an attachable spoiler for BMW vehicles or something but don't quote me on that.

:iagree: though I haven't seen the need for the "wiper spoiler", since I don't "speed" in the rain

Yeah, and the Bosch wipers are "aerodynamically designed" so they have built in spoilers in the design. They just work so much better than standard old type wipers.

As far as RainX, it works well but forget ever getting your cracks filled if you get them. NOVUS normally won't work on windows that have been RainX'd because the filler stuff they inject in the crack won't stick once its been RainX'd, even months after the application. I won't use the stuff.

Do a search. There's been lots of talk about Icons/Valeos/others. You might even find some pictures.

Bosch Micro edge is all you really need. ICONS cost almost double the money and I dont think they work THAT much better.

Micro Edges are good but in my experience I've found that they wear out rather quickly (leaving dead spots, chattering, etc.). Most sets of Micro Edges I've had have only lasted one winter. ICONS have been flawless so far, even with sitting for long periods of time without use.

But then, where we live, the weather can get pretty nasty. In SoCal where the weather is always perfect I'd imagine your windshield wipers are probably just an afterthought ;)

I will have to agree on the Micro Edge wearing down rather quickly. They are awesome brand new, but I usually dont rely on them to last more than one winter season....and thats with California weather too. Actually, they tend to warp or dry out over time, which renders them useless by the time they're needed anyways.

Maybe I'll try a set of Icons on the X5. Last I used them was on my Integra and they weren't anything special to me. Or at least I didn't notice a difference in comparison to the micro edge wiper.
