If your car was made on or after 10/04 and it has Premium Package and/or Assist, it has the new Motorola TCU which INCLUDES bluetooth.

Does it work with any type of bluetooth equipped phone, or just a motorola, etc...?

Bluetooth was included on the 3.0i's Premium Package

This included:
-Bluetooth
-BMW Assist
-Wood Interior Trim
-Dakota Leather
