Computer Display Is Totally Out!
I keep pressing the button on the signal and the only thing that comes up is the Cons 1 menu & it shows the avg consumption......no time, no date, no speed, NADA!!!!
Whats going on here? :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: |
hold the BC button in and you can reprogram what is displayed
|
Ok I will try this in the morning but will this make the time, date, speed, range, etc. reappear?

Holding the BC button did not work.........Anyone else have any helpful tips?
|
Is it just that it doesn't switch from one info to the other? Are you going through the BC button on the turn signal stalk or through the one on the information display on the radio face?
|
I am going through the signal button.....everytime I press it, it only shows Cons1 or it turns is off........press it again and it shows cons1 and press it again it turns it off...
no range, no time, no speed, no nada..........WHY? |
do you have nav in this car?
|
If no nav, does the radio display have a BC button at the bottom right? That would bring up the options on the radio display. (if its working that is)
|
no nav on my model...and yes the BC button is on the bottom right but thats not the issue......the BC button resets everything from the radio.....
the signal stalk doesnt switch the categories...its only shows CONS1 the MPG and if i press it again it shuts it off & if i press the stalk again it only shows CONS1..... The range, time , date and so on dont show....the only thing that shows on my dash is CONS1 |
Hmmm... interesting. So the board computer information is technically there and working correctly, just the instrument cluster isn't receiving it or displaying it properly. I haven't seen that one yet, new problem to me. But the cluster communicates to the radio controller through k-can, can bus connections. Which does throw communication faults stored in different computers, but the only diagnostic equipment that can communicate with those modules and diagnose the various bus problems are the dealers GT1 and DIS+ computers. might mean paying an hours labor charge to get it diagnosed properly....

I guess there's always a first.....
the STEALER is going to rape me good and def. not gonna use any lube! I wish there was a fix for this one...... |
Well, just because I haven't seen this problem before don't mean the thousands of other people on this site (even though just a couple dozen actually post) haven't had or seen this before. You could wait out some more possible info, especially seeing that it is just an annoying inconvenience than a priority problem. Maybe you could play around in the "Online WDS" link at the top of the page and dig around in the wiring schematics and system descriptions for some more info.

anyone else?

i agree with weasel (and if he doesn't know the answer, odds are you might have to get it looked at since he knows his stuff, there is only so much diagnostics that can be made without seeing the car)... anyway, it sounds like there is something funky going on with your cluster not receiving the signal, if you are able to reprogram the options that are displaying on the cluster, maybe try to reprogram it to show nothing and then program it again to show what you want, see if the issue is in the computer or in the cluster.. i too have never heard of this but give it a shot and maybe that will help us pinpoint where the problem is
i can't tell from your prior posts, did you try to see what is programmed to show up on the cluster? because you can program what appears there and what doesn't, it is possible that it just is only programmed to show up the MPG consumption. Personally I only have mine programmed to time, range and MPG.. |
