Adding a qt of oil and 1/3 gallon of coolant every 5k miles...normal?
 

hi, my X5 just rolled over to 100k. I seem to need to add a qt of oil and a 1/3 gallon of coolant to my engine every 5k miles. Is this normal for high-mileage x5?

The qt of oil is well within even new car specs for BMW...
the 1/3 of a gallon is a tad high, imo.

I used to add a half pint after every 1500 mile, high speed
trip, but it's actually reduced itself to less than that over
the past year or two. (I have 67.6K miles on our '01).

You are leaking/consuming the coolant somewhere, imo.
There are a few critical lil' niggling spots on the 3.0,
where coolant can be sneaking out, assuming it's not
a head gasket prob.
