A/C Not Blowing Cold Air...A/C hotter than outside
Hello guys,
So I turned my A/C on today after work, since it had been sitting in the sun all day. I turned the dial in the middle of the fans, pushed the A/C button and lowered the temperature to 62 on both controls and pressed auto. I had driven about a mile when I realized that something was wrong. My fans were blowing air, HOT air. I figured its taking some time for the A/C to kick in. Nope drove from point A to point B (about 6 miles) for about 20 mins and now once did it even seem like the A/C was going to blow cold air. I have some guesses as to what could be wrong, but I cant put my finger on it. The weird thing is that I took my car to BMW in September, and amongst some of the problems that I had explained was that the A/C wouldnt blow cold air while at a stop, It wasnt hot either, just not what I expected. So they added some free-on (Sp?)and everything was working fine until this afternoon. Actually everything was working okay yesterday. Girlfriend is pregnant and was hot yesterday, so I turned the A/C on and everything seemed fine...:dunno: So I have no idea! I called BMW, but they said that they only work on the cars during the week, which is kind of an inconvenience for me since I live about 45 miles from the closest BMW. |
Sound like a leak. First places to check are the service port seals. I would also check the pusher fan in front of the radiator to make sure it comes on. You may need to go to a good AC repair shop and have the system checked.

Well I have the BMW Extended Maintenance warranty, so I will be taking my X5 tomorrow to Valencia BMW and just have them worry about it. Theyve already agreed to give me a rental in order for them to work on it. So it sounds good. Anything I should make sure to tell my service advisor other than the obvious.
I just cannot believe that I took it about a month ago, had free-on added, and they didnt catch the problem then. |
