self lev removed, fooling comp?
ok just got a 00 4.4. the self leveling suspention has been removed by a previous owner. apparently the job was botched cause the "self leveling susp inactive" text will not go away. my question is, is there a way to fool the computers to think everything is ok to get rid of the warning light? the dealers indie mechanic is at a complete loss, as am i. any suggestions?

Level sensors send signals based on their arm angles. I'd connect the level sensors back (or check if they are connected) and fix their arms using epoxy or glue at an an angle that does not trigger the error signal.

But it would still see the ehc module as missing... It would have to see the module and see it as working, relays and all... Is the whole system missing or just the bags?
It might be worth asking your best local dealer for help. What comes to mind for me would be for the shop foreman to ask PuMA (email based tech line) if they can give a custom vehicle order to "remove" the air suspension from vehicle electronically. |
as far as i know just the airbags are removed. although from what we can guess, there was a fire on the drivers side airbag. nothing major, but enough to singe some wiring and cause a nice little mess. as far as we can tell all the components are there and seemingly working properly, just no airbags

If the rest of the system is there, just get the airbags and put them in! They're only about $40 each on realoem.com. Sounds like putting the airbag suspension back together might be the easier and more logical way to go.
