DSP sound system
I have a 2002 X5 with the navigation system. Recently upgraded the Nav CD MK3 to the DVD MK4. Would now like to get the DSP functional. I was told that I would have to upgrade the Nav amplifier. Is this correct, is it the amplifier under the DVD MK4 or the radio Module in the spare tire well? Is this all that needs to be done or am I going to create a bigger problem? Please advise and thank you for your assistance in this matter.

do you already have the premium sound/dsp system installed and it is just not functioning properly, or are you trying to add it aftermarket?
i believe that there is considerably more involved than just the amp, someone from BSW once told me that there was a whole bunch of wiring that needed changing to a different quality (fiber optic i want to say?) wires, i am not 100% sure on that but you would for sure have to replace the amplifier and add a subwoofer into the left side of the car in the trunk (across from the nav) |
Thank you for the quick reply.
I do not have the DSP but was thinking of installing it. Any idea where I could get the necessary info so I can get an idea of the work involved and parts needed Thanks again Terry |
It isn't worth it. Buy aftermarket speakers and sub if you want. That'll get you much better results.

If you are set on doing it though you could call BSW (http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/) they seemed knowledgeable when I asked them when I was considering it. |
