Small Light near Shifter ALWAYS ON! what gives?
 

hello, so i dont believe this is normal, any fixes...or..is it normal?
the small "dot" light on my automatic shifter always stays on...the light that illuminates nexts to P R D N etc etc...always stays on ..when the cars on off locked unlocked sitting for days. what gives?

Mine goes off after approximately twenty minutes. It also goes off on my E60 after approx. twenty minutes also. Wagner, I may be wrong but I don't think that its normal for that light to be constantly on.

Mine stays on all of the time too - been discussed many times...

mine is always turned on on both of my x5 and my e90

After turning off the motor go back and check in about half an hour and you will notice that the light is off.

Actually, I just came across is a previous discussion thread where it stays on for some people and goes off for some people, so go figure.:dunno:

haha..yes ive let mine sit for days and it stays on...
lol how many days straight with out a start do you think it would talk for that little bulb to kill your battery

hi i had the same question/problem i have a 2005 x5 4.4 prem/sport package..mine stayed on for about 15-20 minutes when i shut off ignition..called dealer and they said it is normal for it to stay on for that period and then shut off...rob

i just checked mine and it shuts off after a while (not sure how long, but is at least over an hour). The other light that I noticed stays on after you shut the car off is the child safety lock for the rear windows button, it stays green for a while too. Its interesting that when I unlock the car, not only do all of the interior lights pop on, but so do these two..

i guess someone at BMW thought they were important?

it is not fully on...you can tell if you look at it once you start the car....at least thats how mine is

All the lights in the car should go off in about 30min. as the car going into sleeping mode, and will turn back on when you unlock the car.

yes my child saftey lock light stays on too if i activate it
