HID bulbs
 

So I am waiting for my Custom Angel Eye headlights to come in (hopefully before the end of the week). They are coming with an HID kit (cant use the factory one :( ) with 6000k white bulbs ..but I don't know if thats what I want. I was leaning towards 8000k, or I saw bimmian.com had 6000k purple. Anyone ever see the 6000k purple? How do they look? Any opinions on whether to stick with the 6000k white, or get 6000k purple or 8000k (blue)? The angel eyes coming in the headlights are 6000k white... I want a little contrast between the lowbeams and angel eyes..

I can't decide. Suggestions are greatly appreciated :D

i dont think there is a 6000k purple or a 6000k white.

I have 6000k and its blue/white. looks good. stick with that.

4300k has the most light output, 8000k your losing alot of illumination.

Follow that link that I gave you with the manual! Krunk is right!! go with the 6000k......see how you like them..they should do you just fine......if after you have them and you don't like them you could always get the 8000k..Remember 6000k will give you a diamond white coloring with a hue of blue in there while the 8000k will give you hands down an ICE Blue look.....email me if you need further help!

I have 8000K in my RRS and I will be switching back to stock OEM (4300k) for the winter. The light output is less than regualr halogen headlights. Stick with the stock for the most light possible.
I think if you go 6000K, you will be lucky to have the same light output than a 1992 Ford Taurus with halogens.
As you will read above, the only reason that some cars have a blue or purple look to them is because of the projector lense, not the bulb. Cars that use the higher Kelvin bulbs for the color affect lose a LOT of light... I'd def stay below 6K of you can. Like I said, my blue 8K look cool, but the light is TERRIBLE!
I found a guy in Germany willing to sell me the Sylvania 6000K or the Phillips Ultra Blue- but I decided against it. It's still less light than OEM. They are illegal here, but in some European countries they are still legal. The salesman told me that the reason that these manufacturers came out with the blue lights was for people who had a bulb go out, they didn't want to replace both and that the bluer bulbs would match the older bulbs..

It's a reality- we can't have anything other than what we have. Get the colors out of your head if you want good lighting.

i did in my 4.8is 6000k headlights replacement bulbs from bimmian

and in my fogs i did a 6000k hid kit from angel i bright and the match is dead on balls accurate !!

again in my honest opinion

the stock is 4300 which is closer to white , the 6000k is more of a bluer look i love it i think its perfect not aftermarket looking at all !!

i think if you go to an 8k bulb it'll be a deeper blue and it wont look like it belongs !!

i also just did this on my benz and again im very happy !!

i also disagree with fatx5's comments on light output , the theory is the higher you go on the kelvin scale the less output , 6000 has the same output that my stock 4300 had no noticeable difference

My Infiniti Qx4 had stock 6000k HID's and they definitely were a blueish purple white color. Light output was excellent too...

I would suggest staying with a 6000k bulb as you will get the most light output to the ground. When you go with a higher kelvin it tends to get more hard to see as there is less visible light and more blue light. If you have any questions check our website or feel free to email me :)

thanks for everyones feedback! ya i knew about the loss of light output in 8000k ... wasnt sure if it was worth it. based on all your feedback i think i will stick with what they are sending me (6000k)

oh and pics will be up soon! still waiting on the headlights..they are coming early next week apparently.

I didn't buy the HID kit seperatly it is coming with the headlights from Custom Angel Eyes. I think I am going to have a friend at the dealer install the headlights for me.
