car keys...

OK so this morning i barely got my car opened....I kept trying to unlock the doors with my key but nothing happened... My other key does not work either.

What exactly do i need to replace? batteries?

It so happens that my driver's door won't open from the outside now :( after I fixed the inside about 2 yrs ago...:( its quite annoying to open it from the back seat or let the windows down from the key...especially when its raining..

 gee thanks for the advice...& sorry for bothering you....

Now lets which one i should go to...

Ganley: The main reason I changed the engine in my X

Dave Walters: The ones that squeezed more $$ out of my pocket for useless labor on my engine...

BMW of Cleveland: the good one so far only because I have ordered parts/tools through them that I needed for the swap and engine i bought...

You could try to first go into a service department with the attitude that you just need some simple help and you are not there to schedule an appointment ( " I just have a quick question". I do this at the bmw dealership in my town and they are very helpful. I realize this is not the case for all bmw dealerships but its worth a shot. Try to go at a time where they will not be slammed with work, like when they first get there in the morning..just some thoughts.....Good luck! I hope you get to the bottom of your problem

The battery in your X key gets charged by putting it in the ignition. This is why BMW recommends that you use you fully functional spare key every once in a while to keep it charged just in case you need it. This may be why your other key isnt working. If your door wont open from the outside then you might have another issue.

hey, i apologize fellas, but reading the manual has always worked for me. why would i bother all of you with such a simple solution.

as well the op never told us year model or anything else? what if it is still covered under warranty? why is it our duty to ask for this information???

when under warranty, pointing out to take it to dealer is silly, i agree, but how would we ever know??

 Gmx wasnt talking about your attitude on here, just the attitude you need to display when you take your X to the dealer - that you're not there to make an appt, but just need to ask a "question"...Sometimes it makes the difference between getting helped, or getting the cold shoulder....
