NAV Is Too Slow
I have an 02' X5 4.4 w/ Nav and recently purchased the 2008 update disc from Navteq. Sometimes it really runs slow. I wonder if th eadditinal data on the new disc slows down the system?
Is there an operating system of some sort to update also? I welcome any advice. -Thank You |
3-1/63 is the latest OS for a Mk3 nav drive, which is what would have come with a 2002 X5. See http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/all-...ystem-faq.html
If you want improved speed then your best bet is to swap out the Mk3 with a Mk4 nav drive. |
first we need to know what version you are running, especially since BMW does not upgrade Nav even under warranty - it's strictly DIY
IF you see 3-1/31, 3-1/30, or 3-1/20, you will need to upgrade past Version 17.1 (3-1/31) using a "key CD" - what can be very confusing (at least it was to me) is there are TWO ways the "version" level is described ie a disc labeled version 17.1 is also software version 3.1 for the Mk3 and discs labeled V23 thru V32 contain the last Mk3 software upgrade 6.3 for the Mk4, V32 contains software version 10.0 - the DVD Mk4 system having continued to be upgraded please note the CD system Mk3 uses multiple CD maps, while the DVD system Mk4 uses a single DVD map - they are not interchangeable check out the "navigation" forum for more info |
