Hitch options

Does anyone know of any other hitch options available except for the factory. I really don't want to spend $500+labor for the factory one and don't want to modify or cut any of my plastic on my 4.4. The last hitch I got for my 3.0 was from Drawtite and req'd cutting the plastic just underneath the bumper and it had this ugly looking support that stuck out below the spare tire well. Pls help, I just need it for a bike rack and have no intentions of towing. Thanks.

I just did the BMW hitch install myself. And I bought the hitch for $371 not $500. I did the OEM BMW hitch because I don't want to take chance with my X5. I have heard and read some horror stories by people who installed after-market hitches.
Installing the hitch is laborious but not that difficult.

Where did you buy it for $371? And how long did it take you to install youself? I want a hitch, but I'm never going to tow anything more than 4 or 5 bikes on a rack. :dunno:

Look at the eTrailer hitches for X5. I have seen one X5 equiped with it and it looked pretty darn good. http://www.etrailer.com/products.asp...ke=BMW&t1=&h=e

Where can I buy the hitch for $371? The best price I seen is $450 from Crevier BMW.

BMW Lights

The cost of the BMW hitch includes the lights.

With a new $50,000 car/truck

Why mess around?

From PaulMiller BMW in NJ. They have a 25% discount coupon (on accessories) which comes in every Roundel and sometime in Bimmer mag with no expiration date. Both me and Chefwong paid that price +NJ tax. Took 5-6 hours I believe. I took lot of pics during install and doing a detail write-up for benefit of others. I still have coupon left if you are interested.

The hitch box is huge and you have to drop the rear seats to fit in.

The hitch kit includes wiring harness and module. BTW, my truck is north of $70k

I am interested in the coupon. Please let me know how I can get the coupon from you. Would the coupon work in California?
