call for help, 3.0D flat out smoke solution
2004 3.0D 6 Speed Auto 04 facelift Sport package with 70,000km,
Went on to the Frankston freeway in Vic/Australia for a ride last night, thought I hadn't done a flatout of the car before, so I did. Sad... cars behind me horned me a few times and I looked at the rear mirrors, a lot of smokes... it was at night so the light from car behind helped see the smokes, but there were a lot of smokes, I guess the car behind couldn't see much ahead so it could only shout out/horn. Then I tried again on the way back to Springvale, flatout from 0 to 110km/h, a lot of smokes I could see from the mirrior.... :dunno: luckily, no car behind me Other diesel owners, any ideas? is this kind of normal for a diesel? or I should bring the car for an inspection? it drives superb otherwise. Thanks for helps. |
I drive an 02 E53 X5 3.0d euro too and have the same smoke problem whenever I floor the pedal. This is normal for our diesel engines. I give my X a once a week punch to the floor to get out that black smoke. Everything works fine so far.....:D

the diesel is a very powerful engine, it's pity cars behind me have to suffer from smokes |
