door lock problems and more HELP!
 

hey guys, I know the central door lock question came up a several times (I searched) but did not find an exact answer, but besides going to the dealer

anyways the problem with the 2003 3.0
- Doors can only be locked/unlocked by key
- When locked, the alarm will start going off randomly at any moment for no reason.
- When the doors are unlocked and opened, the main dome lights do not turn on. The dome lights dont turn on at all, the reading lights and the lights in the rear seating does turn on though.

I have tried resetting the key memory.
I have tried disconnecting the battery for 30min to an hour.
I took it to the dealership, and they wanted to charge me around 200 dollars just to see what the problem is and additional for necessary parts and labor. I know it's not cheap to maintain these cars, but come on, that sounds a little too much for something that seems to happen often, which also should never happen. there are cars that are like ten years old and the locking system works fine.

Before I take it back to the dealer to have it fixed, I wanted to see if there is a better solution for this problem.

Something wierd that I have noticed about mine is normally my key and remote works perfecly, but when I go downtown SA, TX the remote will not work. I have to use the key to lock and unlock my X. It is not like the key is old either, I just had a new one made in June, maybe the next time I go downtown I will take the old one and see if it works...

As for your dome light, maybe the bulb is blown, since you say it does not turn on at all and the map lights turn on.... when you open the doors the only lights that turn on are the center ones
