Filling tires with Nitrogen
So my local dealer (BMW of Fairfax) has a promo going on; $39.95 to fill 4 tires with Nitrogen. I didn't think much about it until I heard a little more about the benefits of filling your tires with N2. But is it really worth it? Any satisfied customers on this forum?

$40 seems pretty high to me. I have never done it but i know my local goodyear store will fill them for $5 a tire.

My local ford dealership adds on $160-170 to their new cars for NitroFill LOL

I think Costco does it cheaper or for free

I've noticed the pressure is more stable long term, especially if you live somewhere with real winters. Certainly worth it if it's free or close to free. I'd start to debate the cost/benefit at >$5/tire however.

Save the money, use air it's free...sort of
As a retired military pilot, nitrogen was the way to go as an almost inert gas that made for more stable pressure thoughout the temperature extremes of shipboard landings and takeoffs. My guess is since you are a member of this site, you are most likely an auto enthusiast and prone to taking good care of your vehicle, ie. checking the tire pressure regularly. Recommend save money and use air. At some places it's still free.

I use standard Winter Air this time of year and have never had a problem in any of my vehicles. I leave Summer Air in my motorcycles all winter and then top them off in the spring. One winter I kept Summer Air in my ATV tires all winter but did not have a problem. Now headlight fluid, that's a different story.
